Delite Radio X Watford Jazz Junction 2025

The fourth annual Watford Jazz Junction runs 10-18 May 2025 across venues and spaces in Watford, north west of London. The festival begins with a gala night featuring Vanessa Haynes presents Aretha Franklin plus Elaine Delmar, Janet Evra + Ilario Ferrari Trio, Tim Garland & Gwilym Simcock, Mark Kavuma, blues man Errol Linton, Alice Zawadzki and the famous Jazz Steps marathon on the final day. Delite Radio is pleased to be one of the media partners at this years festival!

Known for her rich, powerful vocals and stage presence, Vanessa delivers an evening of Aretha’s most iconic hits including Chain Of Fools, Respect, I Say A Little Prayer and (You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman. With her deep gospel tones, it’s easy to hear why the Evening Standard recently describe Vanessa as a “soulful powerhouse”.

Ruth Fisher's Jazz Brunch With Elaine Delmar - Sunday 11 May 2025

Elaine Delmar, the daughter of renowned trumpeter Leslie 'Jiver' Hutchinson, was raised in a world of music and forged an illustrious career. She starred in musicals such as Bubbling Brown SugarCowardy Custard, and Kern Goes to Hollywood on both London and Broadway stages, and received critical acclaim for her dramatic role in A Map of the World at the National Theatre. Elaine also appeared in Ken Russell's Mahler.

As a vocalist, she has performed alongside Andy Williams, Michel Legrand, and the London Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall. Her touring shows, Let’s Do It and By George, It’s Gershwin, celebrated the timeless music of Cole Porter and George Gershwin, respectively.
Elaine will perform songs from her extensive repertoire and share insights into her extraordinary career in conversation with Jazz FM, One Jazz & Delite Radio presenter Ruth Fisher.

Anyone interested in contemporary British blues/roots music will be aware of Errol Linton. The Brixton born, raised and resident singer, harmonica player and songwriter has earned his spurs as leader of the 'most dynamic live band in the UK'– making music that gets audiences dancing and cheering.  With a dynamic, original sound like no other artist, he plays funky stuff blues with a reggae tinge and jazz flavours. This is Black British music with roots in Mississippi and New Orleans, Kingston and London.
