The House They Left Behind

DJ Rob Blake started his professional career in 1988, playing Hip Hop, House and Reggae. By 1990 he had finessed club DJing and was playing regularly at 2nd Base, and given residencies at Trouble’s House and The Rap Academy, all taking place at Dingwall’s, Camden Lock. When London’s all-night licenses were awarded in ’91, Rob became resident at 3rd Base at Shaftesbury’s in London’s West End, where each Saturday saw nearly two thousand clubbers pass through its doors. For Rob, this was the tipping point, as he then went on to secure frequent work in London at the Astoria, Camden Palace, Wag, Brixton Academy and The Zap in Brighton. From ‘92 until ‘03, Rob played in Ibiza every year at Pacha, Privilege, Amnesia, Space, Es Paradis, Mambo and Bora Bora. During the nineties he had regular spots at Café de Paris, Legends, Leisure Lounge, Club UK, SW1, Linford Film Studios, Turnmills, Fabric, the End, Ministry of Sound, Club UN, the Warehouse, Bar Rhumba and Villa Stefano. Across the next two decades he span at the Egg, SEOne, the Fez, Smack, Fire, Area, and Hidden, and more recently, at large festivals in London’s Finsbury Park, Streatham Common, the Docklands, and Olympic Park.

As well his club slots, Rob has done much OB work, and presented an independent local radio show on an East London station for five years. This went back-to-back with the late Froggy’s show every Saturday evening.
